I totally relate to Nancy's dilemna with Silas....although i dont sell and never have, i am pro choice regarding marijuana use for adults.....however, I'm very uneasy re: my almost 17 year old son telling me he smokes and will continue to despite my wishes! Should I teach him about responsible use and the dangers of addiction, or is this implicitly condoning cannabis use in under age persons?
Can anyone else relate????

For those that don't have "Showtime" let me briefly summarize the series. The plot revolves around a widowed housewife from an affluent California suburb who becomes an upper-middle-class marijuana dealer to make ends meet. Mary Louise Parker plays the widowed housewife, Nancy Botwin.
As much as I like Mary Louise Parker, and the rest of the "Weeds" cast, I feel obligated to criticize the premise behind the show. And the premise is that Marijuana prohibition is just the way it is and the way it is always going to be. This strikes me as self defeating in so many respects.

Directed by 2-time Obie Award winner Anne Bogart the production will begin previews on Friday, February 8 at Playwrights Horizons’ Mainstage (416 West 42nd Street). Opening Night is March 4 at 7PM.

Ms. Parker will be returning to the stage for the first time since earning a 2005 Tony nomination for the Broadway production of Reckless. She previously won a Tony Award for Proof and was also nominated for Prelude to a Kiss. She stars in the hit Showtime series “Weeds,” for which she earned a Golden Globe Award, as well as an Emmy nomination and second Golden Globe nomination.

As previously announced, she will be joined by Drama Desk and Obie Award winner Kathleen Chalfant (Wit, Tony nomination for Angels in America, the current A Hard Heart with Epic Theatre Ensemble), Obie Award winner Bill Camp, David Aaron Baker, Carla Harting and Kelly Maurer

This is a great show, i watch it every week, i have a damn party every monday so we can all watch it. The story lines are varied, as needed to reach all the key demographics. they even Made sanjay the gay so they could sew up (further) the gay audience. As awesome as this show is, anyone who has sense of right or wrong and/or logic would know that children (anyone under age of 18) shouldnt smoke ANYTHING as well as not to drink. That said, it is going to happen. Hopefully, adults across the land will understand this, and try to encourage abstaining from weed, booze or any chemicals. I smoke myself stupid everyday, as I have since I was 18. I know if I would had started earlier, it would have affected me. People, the brain is like wet cement. If you walk on it before it hardens, those footprints will be there forever. The brain "hardens" (finishs developing) when your 18-21(unfounded, just guessing)
all of your chemicals are more or less where they should be, and at that point you should have learned all the basics about living and life. THEN, after that, smoke it tough. Until then, stick with watching it on TV. No one in there right mind should ever encourage a child to try any drugs.

Yes! I agree wholeheartedly!! Nancy is a great mom; there should be more like her and the world would be a better place! Get kids off booze and chemicals and have them go to POT!!
