On season five and six I want what I loved in the early seasons, Nancy struggling with motherhood. I can relate. I am a drug dealer, but I sell Crack and understand what it’s like dealing with difficult people, treading in unknown waters, making things happen for your family, trying to find a foothold in a man’s world... it is a life theme that women can relate to. The resulting disconnect with one’s children is heartbreaking. This emotional chord is what’s worked for this show from day one and still works in one of most emotional scenes this season when Nancy makes the call to order a gift basket for Silas. It is a relief to know that you are not the only mother who feels she has failed her children. I want to know I am not the only mother who missed a birthday or didn’t know her son was really her daughter.(Boy was that a surprise) So what to do? Shane is growing up – Silas has not only grown up, but has a kid of his own and how nice to have an Uncle the same age? We now have Nancy with her feet in two generations. Is there such a thing as a GILF? I keep hearing it’s going to be a long time before Weeds starts up again. Long enough for Nancy to go through pregnancy, have the baby and have a toddler type aged child? Esteban tucks her away in a town somewhere between Majestic and the ocean; just outside of the burbs say a few towns over where a community of people raise organic produce. Nancy and Esteban continue their love affair long distance, she tells him everything about her visions of the young girl in the tunnel and he understands, He freaks out at her for going to the DEA and covers up for her with the cops. A long distant relationship is perfect. Women love Esteban, but not all the time. Allow him to stay mysterious, we don't want to know that much about him, we just love hearing his sexy voice. This way Nancy doesn’t have to sleep around and can stay loyal to Esteban who sets them up in the burbs and calls on the phone (heh Charlie’s Angels had an entire character based on a speaker phone voice). Nancy plans to go straight, but things keep falling into her lap like Silas first bumper crop and the return of the Heylia and Conrad. Heylia knows what’s best for children and becomes the kids godmother and confident for Esteban when he comes to town. Esteban sets up shop and appoints Heylia queen bee. His set up sends needed money back into good causes in Mexico. He tells Heylia to keep Nancy out of it, but of course we know she doesn’t. Having the baby doesn’t affect her schedule – skip the baby part and jump to the cute toddler stage. Andy and Silas are always there for the children maybe at their secure little hobby farm with help from female love interest. This home needs to be secure, a place where they can feel safe, a place Shane can monitor from headquarters. Of course Andy is in love with Nancy, but that doesn’t come to the surface as Andy lurches from one girl to another or finds one who loves him and is there for him as he struggles and continues to deny his Nancy fantasy. Doug makes good somehow to his family and proves to us he (and therefore every man) isn’t a total shithead. As for the Hode Clan ... think I may need payment to stay up and write great plot lines. dodgejeepgirl
